Timothy D. Freeze is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at The College of Wooster. He holds a Ph.D. in historical musicology from the University of Michigan (2010), where he received fellowships from the Berlin Program, German Academic Exchange Service, and Fulbright Program. His research focuses on George Gershwin's works, Gustav Mahler, Aaron Copland, and Viennese operetta, with publications in the Cambridge Companion to George Gershwin and presses including Oxford and Cambridge.
Previously, he taught at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and IES Abroad in Vienna. His courses cover music fundamentals, trombone performance, and specialized topics like Music in the 20th Century and Fin-de-Siècle Vienna.
Research interests emphasize the intersection of musicology with cultural and historical contexts, particularly in American and Central European traditions.
