Timothy Elston is a Professor and Jeffrey Houpt Distinguished Investigator in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He co-directs the Computational Medicine Program and is a member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Research interests: Signal Transduction, Noise in Gene Expression, Airway Surface Volume Regulation, Motor Proteins, Cell Fate Decisions, Polarity Establishment, Gradient Sensing, Phagocytosis, Cell Migration. His lab integrates computational approaches (mathematical modeling, quantitative image analysis) with experimental studies to understand cellular behavior using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model system.
