Timothy Dean

Timothy Dean is a distinguished artistic leader in music education and performance. As Director of RCS Voices and Artistic Director of the RCS Song Studio, he oversees vocal training programs. He holds the academic title of Fellow at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has led the RSNO Chorus since 2006. His career spans over three decades in opera direction, choral conducting, and music education.

Dean specializes in fostering young talent through programs like British Youth Opera and the Leverhulme Advanced Conducting Programme. His work emphasizes 19th-20th century repertoire, including Britten's Church Parables and Strauss's operas. Recent international collaborations include projects in Hong Kong and Russia.

Key achievements include a Royal Philharmonic Society nomination for Prokofiev’s 'War and Peace' (2010) and leadership in over 50 opera productions across Glasgow/Edinburgh. He currently balances conducting, pedagogy, and administrative roles at RCS while maintaining residencies at institutions like Nuremberg Hochschule.
