About
Timothy Bavington is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he holds the prestigious Lenahan Saltman Thomas & Mack Professorship. Born in England in 1966, he moved to the U.S. in 1984 to pursue art, earning a bachelor’s degree from Art Center College of Design and a master’s in fine arts from UNLV in 1990.
Bavington’s artistic practice uniquely blends music and visual art, incorporating musical scales of the guitar into his work. His acclaimed exhibitions across the United States showcase this innovative approach, exemplified by the major commission "Pipe Dream" at Symphony Park in Las Vegas, which visually interprets Aaron Copland’s "Fanfare for the Common Man".
His work is featured in prominent collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Portland Art Museum (Oregon), Denver Art Museum (Colorado), and Museum of Contemporary Art (San Diego).
