Timothy Amidon

Timothy Amidon is an Associate Professor of Digital Rhetoric at Colorado State University, holding a dual appointment in the English and University Composition Program and the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the Colorado School of Public Health. He serves as Director of the Writing, Rhetoric, and Social Change M.A. Program and the Writing, Rhetoric, and Literacy B.A. concentration. His research focuses on intersections of rhetoric, technology, and public health, emphasizing risk communication, UX design, and data visualization.

Amidon earned a Ph.D. in English and has extended affiliations with the Data Science Research Institute and Information Science and Technology Center. He edits for Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy and co-edited the SIGDOC ‘19 Proceedings. His work spans academic publishing, conference leadership, and community-engaged research initiatives.

Key research themes include digital literacy, fair use pedagogy, and applied communication design in public health contexts. His recent studies address AI ethics, environmental risk communication (e.g., Colorado River water access), and firefighter safety protocols.
