About
Timo Strünker is Professor and Principal Investigator leading the Molecular Reproductive Physiology lab at the Centre of Reproductive Medicine and Andrology, University of Münster. His research investigates sperm ion channels (notably CatSper), fertilization mechanisms, and reproductive biology using biophysical approaches like stopped-flow fluorometry.
Research areas include:
- Sperm motility and chemotaxis
- Function of CatSper calcium channels
- Impact of endocrine disruptors on fertilization
- Cross-species reproductive signaling
Recent publications (2018-2021) examine steroid actions on sperm channels, rotational sperm motion, and novel inhibitors for fertility research. He serves on the board of the CiM-IMPRS Graduate Programme, mentoring doctoral candidates.
