Timian M Godfrey

Timian M Godfrey serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona College of Nursing and Advanced Practice Clinician at TribalHealth in Scottsdale, AZ. A board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and public health specialist, she focuses on American Indian healthcare equity and workforce development for underrepresented populations.

As a Navajo Nation member, Dr. Godfrey champions equitable pathways for historically marginalized students into nursing careers. Her work integrates public health principles with clinical practice to address systemic disparities in tribal healthcare systems, emphasizing culturally responsive education models and sustainable workforce pipelines for Native American communities.

She directs the HRSA-funded Arizona Nursing Career Apex and Transitions Scholars program and leads an Indian Health Services award initiative to increase Native American nurses in tribal practice. Dr. Godfrey co-chairs the UA College of Nursing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Task Force and contributes to national committees including the Western Institute of Nursing Diversity committee and AACN DEI Leadership Network.

Current initiatives include establishing a tribal-specific Arizona Health Education Center to develop health sciences partnerships with Arizona tribal communities, aiming to transform Indigenous healthcare delivery through education and workforce innovation.
