Tim Spier

Tim Spier is a fish ecologist affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences at Murray State University. He previously held a position at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. His work focuses on aquatic ecology, with an emphasis on both game and non-game native fishes.

Research interests:

• Studying fish ecology and watershed systems
• Investigating aquatic biodiversity and management strategies
• Exploring ichthyological diversity in Kentucky

Spier teaches graduate-level courses including Fisheries Management (BIO 582/683) and Ichthyology (BIO 570/671), focusing on practical techniques in fish community management and taxonomy. He also contributes to field research at the Hancock Biological Station on Kentucky Lake.
