Tim S. Pack is a Teaching Professor of Music Theory at the Department of Music Theory within the School of Music and Dance at the University of Oregon. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses spanning music history, counterpoint, music theory, and post-tonal theory.

Dr. Pack’s research focuses on Music Theory across historical periods since the Renaissance, including formal and harmonic analysis of motets, innovations in string quartets, and works of living composers like Willem Ceuleers. His publications explore fifteenth-century Franco-Flemish polyphony, Boccherini’s choral-symphonic music, and orchestral compositions by Dubois and Tournemire. Recent work examines formal innovations in Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga’s string quartets.
He has presented at international conferences in Australia, Belgium, Costa Rica, England, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, and Wales.
Scientific awards include the 1997 John Ness Beck Foundation Scholarship and Composition Award.
