Tim Laquintano

Tim Laquintano is an Associate Professor of English and Director of the College Writing Program at Lafayette College, serving as Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Interdisciplinary Programs. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2010), M.A. from Rutgers University–Camden (2005), and B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh (2001). His research focuses on digital writing technologies, particularly large language models (LLMs), and their societal impacts. He explores how ordinary people adapt to new digital tools and how institutions use these technologies responsibly.

• Research projects include editing TextGenEd (2023) for LLM classroom use and studying LLM effects on political information circulation.
• Teaching emphasizes professional writing challenges, including accessibility, copyright, and ethical AI use.

His 2016 book Mass Authorship and the Rise of Self-Publishing won the Computers and Composition Distinguished Book Award. Recent work critiques Silicon Valley's LLM hype versus real-world applications. He collaborates across disciplines like philosophy, mathematics, and women’s studies, fostering interdisciplinary innovation.
