Tim Huebner is a Professor at Rhodes College's College of Arts and Sciences, where he has taught for 29 years. His roles include Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and he chairs the Board of Editors of the Journal of Supreme Court History.

Dr. Huebner specializes in American South history, U.S. Constitutional/legal history, and the American Civil War/Reconstruction era. His research examines slavery's legal framework, pro-slavery judicial ideology, and racial justice struggles.
His scholarly work includes 13 major publications since 1991, with a 2016 book on Civil War-era constitutionalism (a Choice Outstanding Academic Title). Recent articles analyze Nathan Bedford Forrest's slave trading career, Black resistance to the Dred Scott decision, and Shelby Foote's historical legacy.

As a public intellectual, Huebner contributes to the New York Times, Washington Post, and The Hill. He led efforts to erect historical markers about Memphis' slave trade past and has advocated for integrating judicial history with broader social contexts.
