Tim Harney

Tim Harney is a Professor of Painting & Drawing at Montserrat College of Art. Born in Beverly, MA (1955), he holds a B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His teaching spans over decades at institutions including Montserrat, DeCordova Museum School, University of New Hampshire, and University of Massachusetts Lowell.

His artistic practice focuses on rigorous, empathetic approaches to drawing and painting, emphasizing formal considerations and ethical engagement. Notable exhibitions include the 2001 landmark exhibition Painting in Boston 1950-2000 at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, where his work is also part of the permanent collection. Additional works reside in private and corporate collections worldwide.
