Tim Finin is the Willard and Lillian Hackerman Chair in Engineering and Professor in the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He directs the UMBC Center for Artificial Intelligence and has over 50 years of experience in AI applications for information systems and language understanding. His current research focuses on knowledge graphs, natural language processing, and cybersecurity applications.
Dr. Finin is an ACM Fellow, AAAI Fellow, and recipient of the IEEE Technical Achievement Award. He has supervised numerous PhD dissertations and MS theses in AI and computer science. His extensive publication record includes work on semantic technologies, knowledge representation, and machine learning applications.
He teaches courses in artificial intelligence, knowledge graphs, and database systems. Dr. Finin received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois and has held positions at Unisys, University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins University, and MIT AI Laboratory.
