Tim Fenkner

Tim Fenkner is a Researcher at Humboldt-University Berlin, affiliated with the DFG-funded research project "How to become competitive. Academic socialization at the postdoc stage" and the DFG Research Group "Multiple competition in higher education." He is currently working on his dissertation focusing on the politicization of scientists regarding their working conditions in academia.

• Education: Master's degree in Sociology (2018-2021) at University Bielefeld; Bachelor's degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) (2013-2018) at Witten/Herdecke University.
• Research Interests: Higher education systems, academic career development, sociological analysis of competition in academia, organizational theory, and labor conditions in scientific professions.
• Previous Roles: Student assistant for Dr. Lisa Suckert and Prof. Dr. Jens Beckert at the Max Planck Institute for Social Sciences (2016-2021), for Prof. Dr. Veronika Tacke at Bielefeld University (2020-2021), and for Prof. Dr. Werner Vogd at Witten/Herdecke University (2017-2018).
• Projects: Involved in the Mercator project "Equal opportunities from studies to occupation?" and the DFG-funded project analyzing how postdoctoral researchers navigate competitive environments.
