Tim Chapin is the current Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) and Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at Florida State University (FSU). He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Design and Planning from the University of Washington (1999), an M.C.P. from Georgia Tech (1994), and a B.A. in Sociology/Psychology from Emory University (1992). Prior roles include Department Chair (2003–2009), Associate Dean for Development (2009–2013), and Interim Dean (2013–2016).
Chapin’s work focuses on growth management, land-use policy, and community resiliency, particularly in Florida. His research examines demographic trends’ impact on urban patterns and transportation systems, and he has secured over $3 million in grants.
