
About
Tim Canfer is a Lecturer in Music Production at the School of Humanities, Keele University. He holds a Master's in Music Technology and Computer Music from Leeds University (2010), following an undergraduate degree in Electronics, Music, and Media from Leeds Metropolitan University (1998). Before joining Keele in 2023, he led Higher Education Music programs at Barnsley College and taught Music Technology at FE colleges since 2005.
His research focuses on liveness in modern music performance, developing the Reactive Backing plugin series, and industry collaborations. He also explores music production in electronic and rock genres, alongside pedagogical innovations in E-learning, asynchronous teaching, and Education 3.0 practices. Canfer co-organizes the Education in Podcasting (EPOD) conference, chairs Innovation in Music conferences, and co-hosts the Sound Learnings podcast.
