Tim C. Lei is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Design and Computing, University of Colorado Denver. He serves as the Principal Investigator of the Laboratory for Electronic and Neuromorphic Systems (LENS), focusing on developing novel electronic and optical systems for neuroscience research and neural disorder treatments.
Research Interests:
- Closed-loop neural control system development and miniaturization
- Real-time spike sorting algorithm development
- Brain stereotaxic system for small animals
- Neural circuit modeling using spiking neural networks
- Optogenetic and electrical neural stimulation
- Brain-machine interface
His lab is equipped for neural surgeries, behavioral studies, and development of biomedical instrumentation. Past work includes nonlinear microscopy techniques for kidney cell studies and non-invasive optical imaging for eye disease detection.
