Timothy Burns is a Senior Lecturer of Music and Collaborative Piano Coordinator at Colorado State University, where he oversees piano accompanying and piano proficiency programs. He holds degrees from Duquesne University and the Eastman School of Music.
His education includes a focus on piano performance, music theory pedagogy, and collaborative piano under mentors Carol Schanely-Cahn, David Allen Wehr, and Jean Barr. His career spans performances across the U.S. and Canada, including collaborations with guest artists, orchestras, and chamber ensembles.
Burns specializes in contemporary and classical music, frequently premiering works by composers like Mari Esabel Valverde and James M. David. He has participated in prestigious events such as the International Horn Competition of America and the International Viola Congress.
He actively supports new music through residencies at programs like Lift Clarinet Academy and the Eastman School of Music’s Summer@Eastman. Currently residing in Broomfield, Colorado, he is married to pianist Suyeon Kim and has a young son.
