Tim Broyd is a Professor of Built Environment Foresight and Director of the Institute for Digital Innovation in the Built Environment at University College London (UCL), within The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction. He holds additional roles as Visiting Professor in Construction Management at the University of Reading and Civil Engineering at the University of Dundee. With over four decades of experience, he transitioned from industry leadership roles (e.g., Group Technology Director at Halcrow, CEO of CIRIA) to academia, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and foresight in construction.
His expertise spans BIM implementation, infrastructure sustainability, and strategic policy development. He contributed to the UK Government's construction strategy foresight initiatives and chairs the BIM Task Force. He is Vice Chairman of BuildingSmart (UK) and a Director of CEEQUAL, responsible for sustainability assessment frameworks. His leadership in professional bodies includes roles in the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers, where he served as President (2016/7).
