About
Tim Beck is Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the University of Leicester's Department of Genetics and Genome Biology. His research develops ontological frameworks to standardize phenotypic data across biological and clinical domains. He holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Sussex (2007).
Before joining Leicester, Beck completed postdoctoral research at MRC Harwell Mammalian Genetics Unit developing phenotype ontologies for mouse models, followed by human genotype-phenotype integration studies. His UKRI Innovation Fellowship examined ontology-driven harmonization of clinical health data.
Beck's work enables computational comparison of phenotypic observations across species and healthcare contexts. Current projects focus on cardiovascular research applications through the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre.
