Tim Aldsworth

Tim Aldsworth is an Assistant Professor at the CEES School of Science, Coventry University. He holds a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Glasgow and a PhD in Dental School biofilm modeling. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Nottingham's Food Microbiology group for 11 years before becoming a Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology at Coventry in 2012. His research focuses on novel antibacterial agents, biofilm development mechanisms, and microbial population dynamics under environmental influences.

Research Interests: Biofilm development and prevention, antimicrobial agents, and microbial interactions. His work bridges fundamental microbiology with applied fields like food safety and biomedical engineering. Current studies explore herbal extracts' antibiofilm potential and bacterial suicide mechanisms impacting antibiotic efficacy.

Advising & Grants: Supervised 1 student (name unspecified). Secured £22,000 external funding for research. Active in professional organizations including the Society for Applied Microbiology's Executive Committee.
