About
Prof. Till Stephan is a Professor at the Buchmann Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (BMLS) within Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. His research focuses on understanding organelle architecture and interorganelle communication at the nanoscale, particularly mitochondrial dynamics and interactions with the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). He leads a lab specializing in super-resolution microscopy techniques such as STED nanoscopy to visualize subcellular structures beyond the diffraction limit.
Research Interests: His work explores mechanisms underlying mitochondrial architecture maintenance, ER-mitochondria contact sites, and metabolic coordination. Combining advanced imaging with biochemical approaches, his team addresses fundamental questions about organelle development, interorganelle communication, and their roles in lipid/energy metabolism.
Publications: Recent work includes studies on protein translocase stability, mitochondrial cristae formation, and innovations in microscopy techniques. His lab’s interdisciplinary approach bridges cell biology, biophysics, and imaging technology development.
Contact: Located in Building N600 at Goethe University, Prof. Stephan’s lab occupies offices 2.637 and 2.613. He can be reached at t.stephan@em.uni-frankfurt.de or via phone at +49 69 798 427 16.
