Till Rümenapf

Till Rümenapf is a Professor at the Institute of Virology within the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. His research group focuses on basic studies of viral diseases affecting farm animals, particularly pigs and cattle, with an emphasis on molecular mechanisms of infection, replication, and immune evasion.

• Key research areas include Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV), Porcine Respiratory and Reproductive Syndrome Virus (PRRSV), and Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV).
• The group also investigates bee viruses (DWV, SBV, ABPV, CBPV) due to their significant impact on colony survival and agricultural pollination.

Current projects aim to develop monoclonal antibodies for bee virus diagnostics as an alternative to RT-PCR, alongside elucidating PRRSV’s pathogenesis to address persistent infections in sows.
