Tilahun Abebe

Dr. Tilahun Abebe is a Professor of Biology at the University of Northern Iowa's College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Cellular & Molecular Plant Science from Oklahoma State University, an M.Phil. in Plant Physiology from the University of Wales, and a B.S. in Biology from Asmara University.

His research focuses on enhancing cereal crop resilience through two primary projects: 1) Investigating drought response mechanisms in barley reproductive structures, and 2) Developing genetic engineering strategies against Fusarium head blight using tissue-specific promoters. He teaches courses in Genetics, Plant Biotechnology, Genomics, Proteomics, and cellular biology.
