Tiffany A. Howell

Tiffany A. Howell, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Psychology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She also serves as Associate Training Director for the pediatric psychology fellowship program at Arkansas Children's Hospital, where she provides clinical care and training to fellows and students.

Research Interests:

Dr. Howell’s research focuses on pediatric psychology and chronic illness in children. Her work includes investigating cognitive and academic outcomes in children with sickle cell disease, evaluating multidisciplinary approaches to pediatric headache treatment, and studying the impact of adverse childhood experiences on chronic hematologic diseases. She is also involved in prospective studies on neurodevelopmental outcomes following craniosynostosis repair.

Her clinical expertise lies in non-pharmacological interventions for chronic pain, biofeedback techniques, and psychological treatments for anxiety and depression in children and adolescents with chronic illnesses.

Clinical Practice:

She provides care in several outpatient clinics including Pain, Headache, Sickle Cell, Vascular Anomalies, and Tic Disorder Clinics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She also conducts therapy at the James L. Dennis Developmental Center.
