About
Tiberiu RUS is an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB), Faculty of Geodesy, Department of Geodesy and Photogrammetry. He holds a Doctorate in Engineering and has administered Romania's first permanent GPS station (BUCU) at UTCB since 1999. Previously, he served as Head of Geodesy Service at ANCPI (2005-2010) and Director of the GEOS research center (2011-2019).
His research spans space technology applications in geodesy, with core expertise in GNSS network design, spatial reference systems, and geodynamic studies. Key specialties include satellite/geodetic measurement verification, BERNESE software processing for European geodetic networks (EUREF), coordinate transformation modeling, and construction behavior monitoring for critical infrastructure. He has implemented national systems including ROMPOS and the National Geodetic Spatial Network (RGNS).
Professor Rus has managed multiple research projects and organized postgraduate geodesy courses at UTCB. His operational leadership includes designing permanent GNSS networks, conducting ISO-standard GNSS equipment testing, and providing real-time correction services via the BUCU station. Former roles involved cross-border geodetic coordination (Romania/Bulgaria) and Central/Eastern European geodynamic studies during research stays at Germany's BKG and Austria's UT Graz.
