Tianyu Jiang

Tianyu Jiang is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science department at the University of Cincinnati, where he directs the CincyNLP Lab. His research focuses on natural language processing, large language models, multimodality, and commonsense reasoning.

Education includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Utah (2023) and a B.S. in Mathematics from Nanjing University (2016).

Research explores NLP techniques for emotion recognition, metonymy resolution, embodied cognition, and commonsense knowledge acquisition. His work integrates machine learning with linguistic and cognitive frameworks to advance multimodal AI systems.

Awards: URC Faculty Scholars Award (2025).

Advising includes 3 PhD students, 6 MS students, and 3 undergraduates in the CincyNLP Lab. Funded projects involve efficient LLM deployment and multimodal AI design with Siemens Corporation.
