Thu Zar Nwe

Dr. Thu Zar Nwe is a researcher in Plant Ecology at the University of Bern's Institute of Plant Sciences. Her work focuses on plant-soil organism interactions under global change drivers like climate change and land-use intensification. She investigates how these factors influence biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, particularly through studies on plant diversity, Collembola, fungi, and temporal shifts in ecological dynamics.

She collaborates with the Biodiversity Exploratories synthesis group to address these questions. Her recent publications explore nitrogen availability’s role in biodiversity-multifunctionality relationships and the interplay between plant traits, fungal pathogens, and nitrogen addition on soil enzymatic activities.
