Thor Kerr

Thor Kerr is a Senior Lecturer (part-time Associate Professor) at Curtin University's School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry. He holds roles as Director International in his school and Dean ASEAN, Global, overseeing Curtin's Southeast Asian engagements. His research focuses on media studies, cultural theory, and Indian Ocean infrastructure, with notable works like To the Beach (2015) and co-editing Indian Ocean Futures (2016). He has extensive experience in program coordination, teaching postgraduate units, and supervising PhD/Honours students.

Research highlights include studies on subsea cables, tourism development, and indigenous heritage. His work often bridges cultural studies with environmental discourse, emphasizing geopolitical and scalar theory frameworks.
