Thomas Wimmer

Thomas Wimmer has been a Lecturer at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna since 2005, specializing in historical string instruments. He also teaches at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and the Higher Institute for Occidental Music in Damascus, Syria.

• Education: Biology (1980-1986), Technical Education (1982-1987), Viola da Gamba (1980-1988) with Grazyna Milan, Vienna.

Research focuses on early music and historical performance practices, with extensive fieldwork in Baroque and Renaissance music. His performances span Europe, the Middle East, and North America, including major festivals like Salzburg Festival and Vienna Konzerthaus.

Collaborations: Founder of Accentus Austria (1992), permanent member of Unicorn (1992-present), and regular participant in Clemencic Consort (1995-present). His discography includes 25+ CD productions exploring medieval, Baroque, and cross-cultural themes.
