Thomas Wilkinson

Dr. Thomas Wilkinson is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Sciences at Swansea University, leading the Microbiology and Infectious Disease research group within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. He holds a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Bath (1997) and a PhD from the University of Wales (2001). His research focuses on host-pathogen interactions, particularly in bacterial infections such as Campylobacter and Staphylococcus species, with emphasis on developing diagnostic biomarkers and understanding immune responses. Dr. Wilkinson has secured over £2 million in competitive grants and has contributed to over 40 publications in high-impact journals. He actively collaborates with institutions globally, advancing innovations in ex vivo blood modeling and antimicrobial strategies.
