Thomas Taylor

Thomas Taylor is a Researcher in the Department of Economics at the European University Institute. Originally from both France and the United Kingdom, he joined the institution in 2021 as part of his doctoral cohort.

His research focuses on political economy and development, with particular emphasis on African politics. His doctoral work examines cabinet representation of ethnic groups and the strategic nature of ministerial appointments in Africa.

Under the supervision of former EUI Professor Thomas Crossley and co-supervision of Alessandro Tarozzi, Taylor's research contributes to understanding how ethnic representation functions within African political systems and the strategic calculations behind ministerial appointments in ethnically diverse contexts.
