Dr. Thomas M. Scalea serves as the Honorable Francis X. Kelly Distinguished Professor of Trauma Surgery at University of Maryland School of Medicine. As Physician-in-Chief of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, he leads the nation's only freestanding trauma center, achieving 96% survival across 8,000+ annual cases.

His clinical research focuses on multi-system trauma management, critical care delivery systems, and combat medicine applications. Notable publications examine compartment syndromes in poly-trauma patients and transfusion protocols in emergency settings.
