Thomas Rosenau

Thomas Rosenau is a Professor and Head of the Institute of Chemistry of Renewable Resources at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), located in Tulln. He holds a Diplom in Chemistry, a Doctorate in Natural Sciences, and an honorary doctorate.

His primary research focuses on sustainable utilization of biomass, with expertise in wood, pulp, and fiber chemistry. He leads the Chair of Wood, Pulp and Fiber Chemistry, driving innovations in renewable resource valorization and eco-friendly material development.

As institute head, he oversees multidisciplinary research in Tulln centered on biorefinery processes, lignocellulosic biomass conversion, and advanced analytical techniques for sustainable resource management. His work bridges fundamental chemistry with industrial applications in circular bioeconomy systems.
