Dr. Thomas Reichherzer is the Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of West Florida, part of the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University (2009), an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of West Florida (1996), and a Diplom in Informatik from the University of Ulm, Germany (1996).
Dr. Reichherzer's research focuses on artificial intelligence and cognitive science methods applied to decision support systems, with particular interest in knowledge modeling, natural language processing, information retrieval, and human-computer interaction. More recently, his work has expanded into sensor networks, wearable device security, and smart home technology. He integrates these domains to develop intelligent systems that enhance human capabilities, especially in healthcare and networked environments.
The recent publications reflect a strong trend toward applied AI in software engineering, healthcare informatics, and network simulation.
