Thomas Nenon

Thomas Nenon is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Memphis, where he has been since 1985. He holds a PhD from the University of Freiburg, where he previously worked at the Husserl-Archives and as an instructor. His research focuses on Husserl, Heidegger, Kant, German Idealism, Hermeneutics, and the philosophy of the social sciences. He has served as review editor for Husserl Studies, a member of the Executive Committee of the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy, and Director of the Center for the Humanities.

Research Interests
Nenon’s work explores Husserl’s theories of personhood and subjectivity, Kant and Hegel’s practical philosophy, and the intersection of phenomenology with biomedical ethics. His scholarship bridges historical and contemporary continental philosophy, emphasizing themes like intersubjectivity, temporal consciousness, and ethical grounding.
