Thomas Mustillo

Thomas Mustillo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mustillo specializes in comparative politics, focusing on political parties and party systems in new democracies. His research examines incentives driving politicians in chaotic systems, coordination and cooperation failures, and their sources. Additional interests include democracy/democratization and social policy.

Fieldwork and research have taken him to Ecuador, Haiti, Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Chile.

Publications appear in the Journal of Politics, Rationality and Society, and International Journal of Social Research Methodology.
