Thomas Lierzer

Thomas Lierzer is a researcher at the Institute of Production and Logistics within the Department of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). He holds the title of Diplom-Ingenieur and is based at the university's location in Vienna at Feistmantelstraße 4.

Mr. Lierzer's research focuses on practical applications in forest resource management and logistics. His work centers on developing sustainable and resilient timber supply strategies, with particular attention to salvaged wood management following bark beetle calamities in regions like Carinthia and East Tyrol. His projects emphasize simulation-based learning and hands-on workshops to address challenges in Austria's timber industry.

He is currently involved in two major research projects funded by Federal Ministries: "Salvaged Wood Logistics Management" (2023-2026) and "Management of bark beetle calamities with focus on salvaged wood regions in Carinthia and East Tyrol" (2023-2026). Both projects are managed by Rauch Peter with the Institute of Production and Logistics as the involved BOKU organizational unit.
