About
Thomas Krenc is a Research Fellow at CAIDA, UC San Diego, focusing on internet infrastructure security and measurement. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Technische Universität Berlin, where he researched BGP protocol dynamics under Prof. Anja Feldmann. His work combines data-driven approaches with network engineering to analyze routing ecosystems.
Research areas include:
- BGP data collection platforms & measurement methodologies
- Routing security through RPKI/IRR validation frameworks
- Machine learning applications for network intent inference
He received the ACM SIGCOMM 2024 Best Paper Award and an IMC 2023 Honorable Mention for innovations in BGP analysis. He has supervised 11+ graduate theses on networking topics and teaches seminars on Internet Exchange Points and BGP systems globally.
