About
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Geike is a professor of engineering mechanics at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences. He teaches foundational courses in statics, strength of materials, dynamics, hydraulics, and pneumatics, with a specialized focus on "Kinematics, Kinetics, and Gear Technology" in the Humanoid Robotics program. His academic career spans research conducted since his studies at the University of Waterloo, resulting in over a dozen publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Physical Review E, Vehicle System Dynamics, and Mechanism and Machine Theory.
Research interests include
- Maintenance
- Tribology (contact mechanics, rubber modeling)
- Dynamics of multibody systems
- Cavitation dynamics in lubricated contacts
Prof. Geike serves as academic advisor for the Bachelor’s program in Computational Engineering and Design (launched 2019). Notable collaborations include interdisciplinary projects under funding frameworks like DFG, BMBF, and BMWi. Current research focuses on maintenance optimization and cavitation dynamics in industrial systems.
