Dr. Thomas F. Tartaron is Associate Professor of Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Greek Bronze Age archaeology. As Executive Director of the Center for the Analysis of Archaeological Materials, he leads research on Mediterranean maritime networks.
His research examines Bronze Age coastal communities, maritime trade systems, and landscape archaeology in the Aegean world. Tartaron directs the Saronic Harbors Archaeological Research Project investigating the Mycenaean harbor at Kalamianos. Current fieldwork includes ethnoarchaeological studies of traditional fishing communities and surveys at Molyvoti, Thrace.
