Thomas Dorka is a Professor of Applied Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science and Natural Sciences, FH Südwestfalen, Iserlohn. He joined the university in February 2025 after a career spanning academia and industry.
- Education: Diplom-Informatik (University of Hamburg); Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Ruhr-Universität Bochum, DFG Transregio 29 project).
His research focuses on software engineering, particularly cloud-native systems, cloud/edge/fog architectures, and the intersection of computer science with mechanical engineering through embedded systems and industrial IoT. He also explores applications in circular economy and control systems.
