Thomas Brikowski

Thomas Brikowski is an Associate Professor of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. He holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Arizona (1987), an M.S. from the University of Oregon (1983), and a B.S. from the California Institute of Technology (1979). His research focuses on quantitative hydrogeology, climate change impacts on water resources, geothermal systems modeling, and medical geology. Key projects include studying groundwater arsenic contamination in South Asia and Nepal, evaluating sustainable water extraction in Kansas, and linking climate variability to kidney stone prevalence. He has advised numerous graduate students and received the 20-Year Service Award from UTD (2017).

Research interests span computational hydrology, subsurface fluid dynamics, and geophysical remote sensing. Notable contributions include developing numerical models for geothermal systems and assessing climate-driven water scarcity risks. His work integrates field data with advanced modeling techniques, emphasizing interdisciplinary applications in environmental health and resource management.
