Thomas Balaban

Thomas Balaban is a Professor at the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Planning, School of Architecture, where he explores the impact of technology and digital paradigms on architectural design processes. His work bridges computational methods with creative practice in architecture.

Professional memberships include the Ordre des architectes du Québec, Association des Architectes en pratique privée du Québec, and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He founded the architecture firm TBA in 2009 and has collaborated with renowned practices such as Saucier + Perrotte and Gehry Partners.

His accolades include the Gerald Sheff Medal for Teaching Excellence (2008), Canadian Architect Award of Excellence (2012), multiple Grand Prix du Design (2014–2015), and recognition as an emerging Canadian practice (2011).
