Thomas Amidon is Professor and Chair of the Department of Paper and Bioprocess Engineering at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He holds a Ph.D. in Silviculture from the same institution, complemented by extensive industry experience at International Paper spanning 24 years, where he held progressive research and management roles.
His technical expertise includes pioneering developments in deinking technology, novel papermaking approaches, and bleaching innovations, resulting in multiple U.S. patents and significant corporate cost savings. Current research focuses on sustainable bioprocess engineering and pulp technology.
He actively mentors graduate students, including advising Ph.D. candidate Andrew Palm in Paper & Bioprocess Engineering.
