Thom Allen

Thom Allen is a Professor of the Practice at the University of Kansas, specializing in interdisciplinary approaches to urban planning and design. He currently serves as the Associate Director of the University Honors Program and has held roles at the New York City Department and District of Columbia Office of Planning. His teaching focuses on creative placemaking, site planning, architecture, and sustainability. Allen holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University.

His research interests emphasize enhancing public spaces through applied methodologies, fostering creativity, and effective communication in design. He integrates practical experiences into his courses to strengthen student engagement and real-world application of concepts.
