Dr. Thersa Sweet is an Associate Teaching Professor of Epidemiology at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health, within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She holds a PhD and MPH from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, specializing in Molecular Epidemiology. Her research focuses on cancer, health disparities, and infectious diseases, particularly HIV risk factors among sexual minorities linked to childhood sexual abuse and mental health outcomes.
Dr. Sweet teaches epidemiology, biology, virology, and pathology at both undergraduate and graduate levels, contributing to the expansion of the school's undergraduate curriculum. She has authored/co-authored studies in journals such as Viruses, Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, and Cell Death & Differentiation, examining topics like JC virus pathogenesis, HIV/STI risk mediation, and molecular mechanisms in cancer biology.
