Theo Meder

Prof. Theo Meder is a Professor of Folktales and Narrative Culture at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts, specializing in medieval to contemporary Dutch folk narratives. He holds a dual role as Senior Researcher at the Meertens Instituut (KNAW), focusing on oral culture and folklore. His research bridges historical and computational approaches, leading projects like ISEBEL (intelligent search engine for belief legends) in collaboration with UCLA and Rostock University. Meder supervises the Dutch Folktale Database and contributes to journals such as Fabula and Western Folklore.
