Tessa Minter is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, Leiden University. She specializes in environmental anthropology, focusing on the livelihood strategies of forest-dependent and coastal communities in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly their adaptation to social and environmental changes. Her research emphasizes gender dynamics in resource extraction contexts and sustainability issues.
Her teaching includes courses in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at both BSc and MSc levels. Minter’s work has received international media attention, notably for her studies on the Agta hunter-gatherers of the Philippines. She actively engages in public scholarship through blogs and articles addressing topics such as logging impacts on gendered well-being in Solomon Islands.
