Terry Tiersch is Professor and Director of the Aquaculture Germplasm and Genetic Resources Center at LSU AgCenter. His research pioneers cryopreservation protocols for aquatic species to support conservation and aquaculture.
Developed germplasm repositories for over 50 fish species including endangered razorback sucker and Colorado pikeminnow. Research integrates cryobiology, genetics, and assisted reproduction for biodiversity conservation.
Honors include LSU Alumni Distinguished Dissertation Award (as advisor), Sigma Xi induction, and JSPS Fellowship. Authored foundational text 'Cryopreservation in Aquatic Species'.
